Bulk Mixing Instructions 1. Determine the center of the bale from top to bottom. The bale is 25" tall so make a mark on all 4 sides at 12.5 inches with a silver marker. 2. Draw a line around the bale. 3. Cut the bale in half with a hand saw or cut plastic on your line and break in half. 4. Mix one half of bale with Bottom Mix fertilizer package. .Fill containers half full. Store any unused mix in containers such as a trash can with a tight lid. You can use it at a later time and it will be ready to go. 5. Mix one half of bale with Top Mix fertilizer package. .Fill containers until they are full. Store any unused mix in containers such as a trash can with a tight lid. You can use it at a later time and it will be ready to go. Make sure you mark your storage with the TOP or BOTTOM mix label. Tips: You can mix in the garbage can that you will store it in. Use a new Trash Can (at around 10 bucks) Plan on purchasing 2 bales. This way you can mix one bale with 2 Top Mix packages and one bale with 2 Bottom Mix packages. You will end up with one bale of Top and one bale of Bottom. Mix will store for up to one year in a container and will be ready to use when you need it.. WATERING You will need about one pint for every gallon of mix for the first watering session. Check the water every 3 to 7 days during growing season. Let the soil "lighten" between watering. Tip: Pick up the container and feel the weight. When the container gets light and does not feel like a brick, it is time to water. Don't let your plant wilt. In general, roots need air. This soil will provide the much needed oxygen if allowed to lighten up between waterings. When watering you should not have run off from the container. If your soil is leaking water out of the bottom then: 1. you are watering too much. Limit watering. 2. you let it dry up too much. In this case water when poured onto the plant will go right out the bottom. To recondition the soil, apply small amounts of water and wait 30 minutes at which time you can give it the recommended watering without loss. |
